Bullpen blows Whitson's strong start

One pitch ruined the best outing of the season for Florida right-hander Karsten Whitson. Reliever Ryan Harris hit back-to-back Jacksonville batters with one out in the seventh inning before nine-hole hitter Dylan Dillard launched a three-run home run that proved to be the difference. The Gators ended their six-game winning streak with a 3-1 loss to Jacksonville.

Karsten Whitson was in Florida's weekend rotation for the first four weeks, but he struggled in all four starts. After missing the 2013 season with a shoulder injury, his fastball velocity was 90-91 mph in the first few outings. On Tuesday against Jacksonville, Whitson's velocity was up to the 92-93 mph range.
