Bowl Adds Davis
"We are excited to see this fine young man represent his school and community as a U.S. Army All-American," said Colonel Thomas Nickerson, Director of Strategic Outreach for the U.S. Army Accessions Command. "The U.S. Army recognizes the value of individual talents toward achieving team goals, and Torey Davis' abilities and dedication make him a strong addition to the game."
Torrey Davis is a standout defensive tackle at Armwood High School and was one of 400 players nominated nationally and then ultimately selected by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee. The committee consists of Scout.com, Tom Lemming, and SportsLink.
"This naturally gifted athlete has ideal size and tremendous quickness," said Miller Safrit, Southeast recruiting analyst for Scout.com. "Davis' great hands and outstanding strength helps him disengage from blockers."
Davis is a five-star prospect for Scout.com, rated as the number two overall player in the state of Florida and the number two defensive tackle in the nation. He is a member of the Scout National 100 team and the number six overall prospect across the nation.
"Torrey Davis is one of the most dominating defensive linemen in the country," said Garrett Shea, Director of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. "He has a great combination of size, power and quickness, allowing him to go around or right through offensive linemen. In addition, he plays the game with good leverage and balance. With his tools he should continue his domination at the next level. Torrey Davis is a tremendous all-around athlete and the Bowl is proud to have him join the U.S. Army All-American class of 2007."
Davis committed to Florida in September.
